Vintage Vendor Showcase on Rustic Charm

RetroReclaimations.com is thrilled to introduce fellow vintage vendor Laurie Rued, owner at Rustic Charm. I first met Laurie through Instagram after she purchased vintage Pyrex from my booth at Flea Body's Antique Mall in Wilmington, NC. I have since followed both her personal and business Instagram accounts and continue to be amazed by her vast collection of Fire-King Jadeite AND the charming photos of the rustic displays in her booth.

How long has Rustic Charm been open?

2 years

Story behind business name:

I wanted a name that would explain my style & design

When did your interest in vintage items begin? Were you influenced by anyone? If so, whom?

I always went to yard sales and antique shops with my Mom growing up. As I got older, I started to take my own kids to thrift stores, I love the thrill of the find & the hunt. My Mom & I still go picking together every chance we get.

Expand on why and when you started selling vintage items:

When I started about 2 years ago, I wanted to show my love for very nice Vintage items & how it can be displayed to look like it can go right into your home.

What do you LOVE MOST about being a vintage seller?

I love to know that a customer loves their purchase & my booth

What is your Holy Grail item?

Fire King Jadeite Ball Pitchers

What has been the most challenging aspect of being a small business owner?

Keeping my items organized and tagging each item.

Any advice for others thinking about taking the leap into selling vintage items?

It's a commitment, highs & lows of sales, looking for new items, cleaning it, pricing it, displaying it in the booth. It takes time & patience. You have to have a basic knowledge for vintage & antique merchandise too. There are some things you learn as you go. Everyday is a learning experience, I keep an open mind.
